about

There was an acoustic version worked on at the same time as this in 2007/08. This version made the album. This song is about the night I met my wife. It is about the haphazard nature of the night, the characters I met, the way me and my wife met, and how the night ended. This song is a good summary of what the album is about. The title 'Halo Effect' had been reserved for another song, but I eventually used it on this song. This song is also part of 'Opus. 1' (2011) as an acoustic version.

A review of 'Halo Effect' by Rock 'N' Roll in my Soul Music Blog:

"With light guitar sounds, a soft beat, and power vocals, he creates an atmospheric tune that is emphasized by the drastic quickening of the drums. If this was the only song he put out, it would be enough to show that he’s a songwriter with a passion for words and a musician with a passion for melody."

A review of 'Halo Effect' by Ralph's Music Blog:

"Wullae Wright is capturing the same raw intensity of vocals that an early Robert Plant did. Not only that his almost psychadelic guitar on the track also has the same haunting tones found on early Zep tracks.  An old rock soul in a young body."

lyrics

Blue night sky, glowing neon lights, fly by the window, of the number 40 bus
Sound a sleep,
Now woken to the lively colourful streams of light
City streets
Now woken clinks of bottles, shouting tramps, and police lights

Walk the dirty streets, past short skirts, nightclubs and taxi ranks
Bouncers cunts at the door, pub quiz every answer wrong
Dance floor buzz
Queue at the bar, slutty girls flirt with sleazy guys
Old friends,
Shock drink remember, the pain remember, and then drink again

Halo effect

Slurred drunken tones, of two clowns in either ear, a hypnotic smile, dress to kill
Delicate lips
Sweep over the table and gently touches mine
A couple of freaks
An oompa lompa, E.T and a dressing gown

Streets dead and bare
Heels off, a piss by the bins
A last kiss on the steps
Under the amber beams of light
A taxi home
Life in a eerie silence
A long walk along
No souls, no rain, we’ll say goodbye

We’ll see each other again
